5. 2003 Colts

Peyton Manning is not used to being an underdog, it always seems like where there’s Manning there’s a way, and that was definitely the case when it came to the fifth week in the 2003 Indianapolis Colts season. The Colts visited the defending Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers and it was one of the most anticipated games of the season. The Colts were embarrassed the previous year in the AFC Wildcard round losing 41-0 to the New York Jets so they were looking to redeem themselves against a playoff caliber team.

Peyton Manning and the Colts started the game off very slow, but Peyton found his rhythm late in the game, eventually hooking up with star receiver Marvin Harrison 11 times for 176 yards and two touchdowns. The game didn’t come without it’s drama though as Mike Vanderjagt did Mike Vanderjagt things and missed a game winning 40 yard field goal, but was called back after a Buccaneer lineman was whistled for a leaping penalty. Janderjagt would attempt a 29 yard field that was tipped going up, but hit the sidebar and through. Colts win 38-35.
