Top 10 Comebacks in Sports

10. 2001 Cleveland Indians vs Seattle Mariners

This season was groundbreaking for the Seattle Mariners. Coming off of an incredible 2000 season where they earned the franchise’s first wild card berth, but eventually losing to the Yankees in the ALCS. In 2001, the Mariners were ready to get back to business. They would eventually tie the record for most wins in an MLB season with 116, but they could have broken it, if not for a dreary August 5th in Cleveland.

The Mariners jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the 1st inning and would eventually lead by 12 runs before the 4th inning even began. The Mariners were looking for their 81st win while the Indians were looking to avoid their 49th loss of the season. Seattle would go into the 7th inning leading 14-2, but turned on cruise control to take them to the end of the game. The Indians noticed this and took advantage, scoring 3 runs in the 7th, 4 in the 8th and 5 in the bottom half of the 9th to send the game to extra innings. Jolbert Cabrera would hit a walk off single in the bottom of the 11th to cap off the biggest comeback in MLB history.
