The number 23 is synonymous with Michael Jordan so it was no surprise that Jordan Brand would go all out for the Air Jordan 23. Once again Tinker Hatfield was called up to design a special shoe that tied together where the brand was from and where it was going. The shoe was the first that met Nike Considered standards by reducing waste and the use of harmful chemicals, and also used environmentally sound materials and assembly. MJ himself is part of every shoe as his thumbprint is seen on the inner tongue as well as shaped the outsole of the shoe. The uppers featured hand-stitching with MJ’s initials across the entire upper. A thick quilted full-length bootie aided in comfort while carbon fiber shank plate and reinforced quarter panels used down low for performance. Minimal branding was seen on this version with the #23 on one tongue and the Jumpman on the other. Being the 23rd shoe there were various special releases and the theme of 23 was used for the most rare colorways. Jordan Brand members were treated to special versions that caught the attention of everyone around the league.
