The Air Jordan 11 is the most recognizable, popular and loved Jordan shoe. Design on the shoe started before Michael Jordan returned to the NBA and in secret as Tinker Hatfield was told to stop working on the shoe. Luckily for all of us he didn’t. Looking to create a shoe that would be able to work great on court and still look great off. It started off with the new to basketball patent leather mudguard that wrapped around the entire shoe. A new nylon ballistic mesh was added to the upper leading to the padded collar. Adding to the performance aspect of the shoe a visible carbon fiber shank was used to add strength and reduct flexing during quick movements. This piece was covered by a revised translucent outsole. When he saw the shoe MJ made a bet that he would see someone wearing them with tuxedo’s and after a few months R&B group Boyz II Men did just that. Jordan actually unveiled the shoes early during the 1995 playoffs causing even analyst Ahmad Rashad asking where to get a pair. The shoes release caused lines and riots and featured in th film Space Jam. Most importantly the shoe helped MJ and the Bulls to their winning ways. Dominating the competition MJ stacked up awards during that season with the Bulls finishing the regular season with a record of 72-10. That momentum lead them through to the NBA Finals where they were victorious for their fourth NBA Championship on Father’s Day of that year. It was the first time in league history one person was named regular season MVP, All-Star game MVP and NBA Finals MVP.
