J.I.D Is On The Rise In The adidas PureBOOST DPR
It’s a warm Friday morning in Jacksonville and you can feel the energy in the air as people are buzzing in the streets around Mavericks Live. People are lined up outside a building and passerby’s are asking “what is going on?” and the small group energetically replies with “ColeWorld Tonight!” and another shouts “J. Cole and J.I.D are performing tonight!” The Dreamville team is a group of artists that have been signed by the ever-popular, J. Cole. His latest signee to the label, J.I.D is the newest member to the team but has one of the hottest songs out right now that is being blasted through speakers everywhere.
J.I.D isn’t new to the rap game but he is new to a major U.S. tour like the one he is on right now. Five months ago, he was still on the come up in his hometown of Atlanta and grinding to get his name and record out there. Being the opener for a headline artist is no easy task but J.I.D embraces the role every night he takes the stage. He goes through his set each night and slowly work his way up to his hit song. Just 24 hours before the Jacksonville show, the first stop of the tour opened up with their first show in Columbia, South Carolina and J.I.D said he “was taken back when he started performing “NEVER” and the crowd rapped every word as if they were on stage with him and it was a surreal moment.”
Much like his style, his lyrical flow is different from what most people are used too, especially coming out of Atlanta. J.I.D raps about moments in his life and his crew as he relates them to being like the old cartoon, “Ed, Edd, n Eddy”. Authenticity is something he stays true to in his life, songs, and style.
Each night is a different city and stage which means comfort is important for the tour life. As he appeared from behind the stage, he steps out in the adidas PureBOOST DPR and bounces around the stage, dropping bars and building hype before the last song. The beat drops for “NEVER” and you can feel J.I.D unleash his energy on the crowd that invokes them to feel the passion he embodies in the lyrics.
