Allen Iverson: Georgetown Years and Reebok “Georgetown” Pack

Allen Iverson: Georgetown Years and Reebok “Georgetown” Pack by Benny Clouds

Allen Iverson was the man who defied all odds. Despite playing high school basketball his senior year due to legal troubles, Georgetown Hoyas coach John Thompson still gave Iverson a full scholarship and a chance to play ball for one of the best college teams in the country.

Georgetown Years

Just as Coach Thompson expected, Iverson excelled at Georgetown, averaging over 20 points a game and a 3 steals. His excellent game play during his first year led him to win the Big East Rookie of the Year award, and he was also named All Rookie Tournament First Team. Iverson had an even better sophomore year, averaging 25 points per game and 3.4 steals. He led the Hoyas to the Elite 8, where they would unfortunately lose to the University of Massachusetts, but Iverson’s great season earned him the title of First Team All American. After his sophomore year, AI decided to enter the 1996 NBA Draft, and left Georgetown as the all time leading scorer.

Reebok Iverson “Georgetown” Pack

To pay homage to Allen Iverson’s years at Georgetown, Reebok is dropping two of AI’s best signature shoes dressed in the Navy and Grey colors of the Hoyas. His first and probably most notable model, the Reebok Question Mid, features a pebbled leather upper consisting of a Flat Grey color. The toebox of this model is equipped with Navy suede, and the inner lining, outsole, and Hexalite bubbles also are dressed in Navy. A White midsole, tongue, and laces finish off this model. The Reebok Answer IV is the second shoe in the pack, with a upper consisting of a White pebbled leather on the back half of the shoe, and a smooth Navy leather on the front half. Flat Grey accents the midsole of the Answer IV and runs up the back of the shoe as well.

Despite the amount of high quality players that have played for the Georgetown Hoyas throughout the years, no player has made quite the impact that Allen Iverson did. Coach John Thompson took a huge risk in bringing the controversial player to his school, which was a decision he would never regret. Both the Reebok Question Mid and the Reebok Answer IV “Georgetown” editions are available now, so head on over to check them out. It will be a decision that you too will never regret.
