Air Jordan Spizike “Poison Green”
The Air Jordan Spizike debuted on the footwear scene in 2006 and was unlike any other shoe that Jordan heads had seen before. Since the Spizike is a hybrid Jordan it pulls from a host of iconic silhouettes that include the Jordan III, Jordan IV, Jordan V, and Jordan XX. Most people wouldn’t think that combining those models could turn out to be something that they would rock but Jordan Brand did it once again.
What most people don’t know is that the Spizike was initially named “Retro Frankenstein” in reference to the unorthodox look. To show appreciation to Mars Blackmon aka Spike Lee for his part in the rising of Air Jordan, the Spizike was dedicated to him and even gave an inspired colorway to his Do The Right Thing film. Once the first two colorways were released and JB saw the warm reception they got, they decided to fast track more colorways and the popularity grew to what it is today.
Since summertime is finally here and its premiere sneaker season for shoe lovers, JB decided to deck out this Spizike in some vibrant colors. Earlier this month we saw the Jordan Retro 5 release with colors very similar but not exactly like these. While the flashy University Red and Poison Green speckling stands out in an original look but the paint speckles and elephant print give it a more classic feel. Aside from the form of the shoe, the one thing that stays constant with the Spizike is that there is always elephant print. Make sure you add these Air Jordan Spizikes to the collection on June 24th at Finishline.com!
