The newest evolution of Nike Air is here in time for Air Max Day 2022

It’s hard to know where you’re going if you don’t know where you’ve come from.
Acknowledging history and heritage is important no matter what you’re doing, from education to athletic training and, yes, even sneakers.
There’s no denying the fact that Nike has an incredibly deep vault and a veritable library of stories and narratives tied to shoes whose designs have quite literally changed sports, streetwear and fashion culture.
We all know about the iconic Air Max line and its game-changing architect, a literal architect named Tinker Hatfield.
Hatfield was the one who first suggested exposing Nike’s proprietary Air cushioning unit with a “window” in the heel of the midsole, and a legend was born in 1987 with the Nike Air Max 1.
Air Max has evolved through the decades, growing and changing alongside footwear technology and aesthetic trends. Air Units got bigger and badder, collaborators got more and more bold, materials more versatile and high-tech.
March is for celebrating the Air Max lineage, with March 26 the official “birthday” of the famous silhouette.

The Swoosh always cooks something special up for the occasion. This year marks the 35th Anniversary of the Air Max 1 model. Nike recently confirmed it will be releasing three new Air Max 1 colourways on Saturday, March 26 (Air Max Day 2022). Sneaker News describes the much-anticipated exclusive sneakers:
“Starting off is the North America-exclusive Air Max 1 “Blueprint”, which features a grid-like pattern above a blueprint of the Air Max 1 design created by Tinker Hatfield. The Europe-exclusive Air Max 1 “La Ville-Lumière” aka “City of Lights” is made just for women and comes with dangling charms of the storied model. Finally, a third Asia-Pacific and Latin America exclusive sees the premium “Wabisabi” iteration with top-notch leathers, stitching, and more.”
Last year, the designers in Beaverton turned the nostalgia up to “high” with the release of the Nike Air Vapormax EVO.
Honoring seven iconic Air models – Air Max 90, 93, 96, Air Max Plus, Air Tuned 99, Air Max Solas and Air Max 180+ -– the Vapormax addition put the line’s DNA under the microscope..
