Fifteen years in the making, the Air Jordan 7 Retro ‘Flint’ finally returns this month
A lot has happened since 2006.
LeBron James went from chasing his first ring to being a four-time champion. Shaquille O’Neal went from Miami to Phoenix to Cleveland to Boston and then to TNT, with plenty of endorsements in between.
But through it all, we still haven’t seen a rerelease of one of the more highly sought-after Jordan retro colorways.
Well, your days of waiting are over. The Air Jordan 7 Retro ‘Flint’ is back for the first time since ’06.
It’s a simple take on the AJ7, which has historically boasted some wild color combinations over the years.
There was the beloved Bugs Bunny-inspired “Hare” edition, the rich tones of the ‘Bordeaux’ release and the pair known as ‘Raptors,’ whose highlights on the all-black uppers took on the colors of the Toronto NBA franchise.
And that’s not even to mention the ‘Olympic’ colorway MJ rocked during the Summer Games in Barcelona in 1992, or the ‘Cardinal’ combination that carried Jordan to a 64-point outing the first time he played against Shaq and the Magic.
The AJ7 was the first model in Jordan’s signature series that forewent both Visible Air and Nike logos, as the Jumpman began to market the line separately from the Swoosh.
The ‘Flint,’ which originally dropped on April 22, 2006, for the now-bargain price of $135, combined a white leather upper with Flint Grey nubuck underlays and Varsity Purple highlights.
It was a perfect colorway for DeMarcus Cousins, who would wear the uniform-matching pair during his days as a Sacramento King.
This time around, the ‘Flint’ arrives with a color scheme true to the original release, and will release in Men’s and Kids’ sizing so the whole family can kick it.
